Lora DiCarlo – by and for women

Lora DiCarlo is a brand that we from Pabo definitely can’t ignore, even though it was only created a couple of years ago in 2017 and has a limited range of products (five toys). It all started with an orgasm. Not just a regular orgasm, but a blended orgasm! In her endeavour to experience it again, Lora Haddock DiCarlo decided to found a company where the vision of innovation through inclusivity and destigmatising sex and masturbation are at the heart of everything. The creation of the first Lora DiCarlo sex toy

Lora entered into a partnership with the Robotics & Engineering Lab of the University of Oregon and together they developed the first toy for reaching a blended orgasm. It immediately received a lot of attention and was even nominated for and rewarded the coveted robotics prize from the CES. However, a month later the prize was taken away again and Lora DiCarlo was banned from the exposition. The organiser of CES and the trade fair, Consumer Technology Association, was of the opinion that Lora’s sex toy wasn’t compatible with what the award stands for. It was deemed immoral, obscene, and blasphemous, even though this toy was actually developed for the benefit of women’s sexual health. What’s more, sex toy companies were accepted to the trade fair before. There was only one difference between Lora DiCarlo and those other companies at the trade fair: Lora DiCarlo was not founded by men, but by women. Taking away the award ruffled a lot of feathers. The CTA tried to explain why they took back the award by giving various reasons, but these weren’t generally accepted. The reasons were vague and the CTA failed to present any hard evidence. Eventually, the CTA had to admit that Lora DiCarlo did actually deserve the award. Her company was welcome at the trade fair again after that. She even recieved multiple awards in the last few years. Nowadays, she can present not one, but five different toys.
