Blue Monday: the best remedies for this depressing day

blue-monday

Blue Monday: according to some it’s the most depressing day of the year. But this day doesn’t have to as blue as people say it will be. With our exciting remedies, you will get through this Monday more relaxed than ever.

When is Blue Monday?

Blue Monday is typically on the third Monday of January, so in 2021 it’s 18 January. The name ‘Blue Monday’ was first published in 2005 as part of a promotional campaign for travel organisation Sky Travel. Cliff Arnall came up with the formula for calculating the date. It involves the weather in the Northern Hemisphere (during winter), the number of days after Christmas, the fact that most people fail to keep to their new year’s resolutions at some point, lack of motivation, financial debt, and monthly pay.

”Blue Monday is typically on the third Monday of January.”

Critics say that Blue Monday is pseudo science: something that isn’t true, but is presented as science. Arnall himself didn’t like the negative sound of Blue Monday and nowadays tries to give it a more positive spin. He considers it a good day to make far-reaching, tough decisions.

How do I get through Blue Monday?

A positive mindset is a great help to get through the dark winter months, and Blue Monday in particular! So don’t let it get you down and make something of your day. With the following remedies, you will have a great time.

Stay in bed all day

We admit, not everyone has the luxury of being able to stay in bed all day. But if you can, we definitely recommend it. After sleeping in and having breakfast in bed, it’s time for more relaxation. One with a big O. Your masturbation session will be even more exciting with a sex toy and it will give you that orgasm sooner than expected.

Enjoying a clitoris vibrator

The clitoris vibrator has been the number one sex toy for women for a couple of years now. This is not surprising considering this toy stimulates the clitoris and almost guarantees an orgasm every time. The Satisfyer Pro 2 is very popular, which is an air pressure stimulator that has 11 different speeds to take you to a climax. Want to treat yourself to some true pleasure? Go for the clitoris stimulator from luxury brand Lora Dicarlo.

Explore anal stimulation

Ready for something new? Explore anal pleasure! We recommend starting slow by massaging the anus with your finger, and don’t forget to use lubricant. When you’re ready for the next step, you can try using a vibrating butt plug. This offers maximum stimulation of the anus, which makes you feel filled up and aroused.

Stimulate your fantasy with porna or erotic stories

Do you need more than just a sex toy to reach a climax? Porna (female-friendly porn) provides visual stimulation. Dusk TV is the only television channel that 100% focuses on a female audience. This originally Dutch channel even came up with the term ‘porna’. You don’t have to watch it on television of course: Dusk TV also has a website that allows you to enjoy real sex videos, made by and for women. Besides visual porna, there is also something called audio porn, which is erotic audio without video. These porn podcasts are very popular, because many women enjoy listening to erotic sounds without needing accompanying visuals. One of the most popular audio porn apps is Dipsea.

Watch your favourite TV show

Spending hours watching your favourite TV show is a great way to get through Blue Monday. Whether it’s a classic (Sex and the City!) or a more recent hit show like Game of Thrones, make yourself comfortable on the sofa or in bed with your laptop and your favourite chocolate, and get ready for hours of uninterrupted entertainment. Definitely something to look forward to!

Blue Monday? Me-time!

During the week, you’re probably busy with work, household chores, shopping, and perhaps you have children as well. This also usually includes social contacts and working out a couple of times a week, but these two thingd have probably been pushed to the background a bit because of the current restrictions. Try to get everyone out of the house on 18 January and do whatever you want to do.

From doing yoga for an hour to quietly reading a book in the morning. Can’t go to the hairdresser? Try cutting your own hair or dying your roots. Or stay away from all of that and just put your hair up in a messy bun. On Blue Monday, you can take all the time you need for yourself. You could even lock yourself in the bathroom if necessary with a lovely scented candle and your favourite nail polish. Don’t forget to bring your phone for some relaxed music (and to drown out the noise your children make).
