Fabiënne Schriek (26): professional taboo breaker

Fabiënne-Schriek

With a down-to-earth and nonchalant attitude, this 26-year-old influencer breaks countless taboos. She isn’t afraid of criticism, earns her living by showing her body on OnlyFans, and is open about her sexuality. She warns youngs women about manipulation by large marketing firms and the media. ‘‘That is the main reason why women are so insecure about their bodies’’. With her online reach, she hopes to inspire young women to be happy with their bodies.

Plus Size model & influencer

When she was 16, Fabiënne got an internship with a photographer. She soon found out that the photographer also did shoots for well-known brands. She signed herself up as a model, but was rejected because her hips were too wide. Despite that setback, she didn’t give up and in 2018, she was a participant in the Ducth television show ‘Curvy Super Models’. This got her a lot of publicity and since then, she has been earning her living as a model, as an influencer, and as a content creator on OnlyFans.

‘I like to push boundaries’

Onlyfans is a subscription-based online platform where content creators can make money by showing private content like photos to their ‘fans’. This is usually pornographic content. Many people have a strong opinion about it and label it as vulgar, but Fabiënne looks at it differently: ‘‘Typical narrow-mindedness. I only show photos of myself in sheer clothing and I earn €8,000 per month. I do the same on Instagram, but that doesn’t make me any money. It’s not a hard choice to make’’. She isn’t afraid of negative comments. In fact, she likes to push boundaries in order to find out who is narrow-minded and who isn’t in her eyes. ‘‘Separating the wheat from the chaff’’, is what she calls it.

Openness about sexuality

Despite the many stigmas that Fabiënne encounters, she is optimistic about the future. She notices that in the world of social media, people start to be more and more open about sexuality. For example about the shape of labia, how to pleasure someone well, and about various sex positions. Fabiënne describes it in a way that only she can: ‘‘Nowadays, you don’t have to go to some vague sex shop in an alley to buy a sex toy. It’s all much more accessible now.’’

Finally, what do we see in Fabiënne’s portrait according to Fabiënne?
‘‘A woman who isn’t afraid to take on the world on her own. People are so often looking for approval from others, but you can really see that I live for myself.’’
