Column: christmas magic

It’s the holiday season! And oh, how I love it. I’ve always been a sucker for love and for Christmas movies, but ever since I met my husband, whose birthday is on the December 26, it has gotten even worse. But as the moments that I can snuggle up under a blanket on the sofa have gotten sparse, I find myself getting my dose of sentiment and Christmas Magic while doing the laundry, or typing my articles.

I love the romance, the heartbreaks, the dreams that come true, the Christmas lights, and everything coming together in the end. It always has some kind of magic in it. Some say it’s just a script, something that isn’t real. But I like to believe everything is possible and that everyone deserves their fairytale… Everyone deserves their moment of glitter and glamour. Of fame and happiness. A moment where the impossible seems possible. A moment where you feel fierce and strong. A moment where you feel as if you are born to sparkle.

To do that, to feel that, I think it’s necessary to be able to seize your moment. Look for it, seek opportunities, and fully experience it. To feel the magic is to be mindful, to experience a moment without any judgment. And maybe that is exactly what cheesy Christmas movies do for me: they let me forget my sorrows and let me be in the moment. They even make me cry. Yes, I know, it’s almost kind of pathetic. But it works for me. And I like to think it works for other people as well, to find that inner courage, to accomplish whatever it is that you want to accomplish.

And while you find that courage, figure out what you want to change for yourself. Do you want to feel more empowered, or do you want to be more conscious of the love that is sitting right next to you on the sofa? Do you want to invest in your own sensuality, or do you prefer to spice it up a bit with your secret lover?

Once you’ve figured out what it is that you want to change, seize your moment and act on it. Feel the magic and make it yours.
